Ingredients
- 1 cup Granulated Sugar
- 3/4 cup Cake Flour
- 1/4 tsp Salt
- 1 1/2 cups Egg Whites (About 10-12 Large Eggs)
- 1 tsp Cream of Tartar
- 1 tsp Vanilla Extract
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 350°F.
- In a large mixing bowl, sift together the cake flour and salt.
- In a separate mixing bowl, beat the egg whites with an electric mixer until they start to foam.
- Add the cream of tartar to the egg whites and continue to beat until stiff peaks form.
- Gradually add the sugar to the egg white mixture and beat until the mixture is glossy and stiff peaks form.
- Add the vanilla extract and beat until just combined.
- Gradually sift the flour mixture over the egg white mixture, folding in gently with a spatula.
- Pour the batter into an ungreased angel food cake pan.
- Bake for 35 minutes or until the cake is golden brown and springs back when touched.
- Remove the cake from the oven and invert the pan onto a cooling rack.
- Let the cake cool completely before removing it from the pan.
- Once the cake is cool, use a sharp knife to loosen the cake from the pan and serve.
