For the Fried Dough Balls:
- 1 cup Milk Powder
- 1/4 cup All-Purpose Flour
- 1/4 tsp Baking Powder
- 2 tbsp Ghee Melted, Or
- Unsalted Butter Melted
- 1/4 cup Milk
- Oil For Frying
For The Syrup:
- 1 cup Sugar
- 1 cup Water
- 1/4 tsp Ground Cardamom
- Pistachios Sliced, For Garnish, Or
- Almonds For Garnish
Instructions
- In a large mixing bowl, combine the milk powder, all-purpose flour, and baking powder.
- Add the melted ghee or unsalted butter to the bowl and mix well.
- Gradually add the milk to the bowl and mix until a soft and sticky dough is formed.
- Divide the dough into 12-15 equal parts and roll each part into a smooth ball.
- In a deep fryer or heavy-bottomed pot, heat the oil over medium-high heat.
- Once the oil is hot, add the dough balls to the oil and fry until they are golden brown on all sides.
- Using a slotted spoon, remove the Gulab Jamun from the oil and place them on a paper towel to drain excess oil.
- In a separate pot, combine the sugar, water, and ground cardamom to make the syrup.
- Heat the pot over medium-high heat until the sugar dissolves and the syrup thickens.
- Add the fried Gulab Jamun to the syrup and let them soak for at least 30 minutes.
- Garnish with sliced pistachios or almonds and serve.
