Ingredients
- 2 cup All-Purpose Flour
- 1/4 cup Granulated Sugar
- 2 1/2 tsp Baking Powder
- 1/4 tsp Salt
- 1/2 cup Unsalted Butter Cold & Cubed
- 2/3 cup Milk
- 1 Egg Large
- Coarse Sugar Optional

Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 425°F (220°C).
- Line a baking sheet with parchment paper and set aside.
- In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt.
- Add the cold, cubed butter to the bowl and cut it into the dry ingredients using a pastry cutter or fork. Continue until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
- In a separate bowl, whisk together the milk and beaten egg.
- Add the wet ingredients to the dry ingredients and stir until the dough comes together. Be careful not to overwork the dough.
- Turn the dough out onto a lightly floured surface and knead it a few times until it forms a smooth ball.
- Roll the dough out to about 3/4 inch thickness.
- Cut the dough into circles using a biscuit cutter or glass.
- Place the scones on the prepared baking sheet and brush the tops with a little bit of milk or cream. If desired, sprinkle some coarse sugar on top.
- Bake for 12-15 minutes, or until the scones are golden brown.
- Serve warm with butter, jam, and clotted cream.
