  • Heat the mixture over medium heat, whisking constantly, until it thickens and comes to a boil.
  • Reduce heat to low and simmer for an additional 2-3 minutes, whisking constantly, until the mixture is thick and smooth.
  • Remove the saucepan from heat and pour the mixture into a mixing bowl.
  • Let the Tembleque cool to room temperature, then cover with plastic wrap and chill in the refrigerator for at least 2 hours, or until firm.
  • When ready to serve, spoon the Tembleque into individual serving dishes.
  • Sprinkle with toasted coconut flakes, if desired.
  • Serve and enjoy!
