Instructions
In a large pot, bring the water to a boil.
Add the grits and salt and stir well.
Reduce the heat to low and cover the pot.
Cook for 20-25 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the grits are tender and creamy.
Add the heavy cream, cheddar cheese, and black pepper to the pot and whisk until smooth.
In a large skillet, melt the butter over medium-high heat.
Add the garlic and cook for 1-2 minutes, until fragrant.
Add the shrimp to the skillet and sprinkle with paprika and cayenne pepper.
Cook for 2-3 minutes on each side, until pink and cooked through.
Divide the grits among four bowls and top with the cooked shrimp.
Garnish with chopped green onions and serve hot.
