Ingredients
For The Pie Crust:
- 1 1/4 cups All-Purpose Flour
- 1/2 tsp Salt
- 1/2 tsp Sugar
- 1/2 cup Unsalted Butter Cold And Cut Into Small Pieces
- 3-4 tsp Ice Water
For The Filling:
- 4 Apples Thinly Sliced
- 1/2 cup Granulated Sugar
- 1/4 cup Brown Sugar
- 2 tbsp All-Purpose Flour
- 1 tsp Ground Cinnamon
- 1/4 tsp Ground Nutmeg
- 1/4 tsp Salt
- 2 tbsp Unsalted Butter Cut Into Small Pieces
Instructions
For the Pie Crust:
- In a large mixing bowl, combine the flour, salt, and sugar.
- Add the butter to the bowl and use a pastry cutter or food processor to cut the butter into the flour mixture until it resembles coarse crumbs.
- Gradually add the ice water, one tablespoon at a time, and mix until the dough comes together.
- Form the dough into a ball, wrap it in plastic wrap, and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes.
For The Filling:
- Preheat the oven to 375°F.
- In a large mixing bowl, combine the sliced apples, granulated sugar, brown sugar, flour, cinnamon, nutmeg, and salt.
- Mix well and set aside.
To Assemble the Pie:
- On a floured surface, roll out the pie dough to a 12-inch circle.
- Transfer the dough to a 9-inch pie dish and trim the edges.
- Fill the pie crust with the apple filling and dot with small pieces of butter.
- Roll out the remaining dough and use a pastry cutter or knife to create a lattice design over the top of the pie.
- Brush the top of the pie with a little bit of water and sprinkle with a little bit of sugar.
- Cover the edges of the pie with aluminium foil to prevent burning.
- Bake for 45-50 minutes, or until the crust is golden brown and the filling is bubbling.
- Remove the pie from the oven and let it cool for at least 15 minutes before serving.
