Ingredients
For The Cake:
- 1 cup All-Purpose Flour
- 1/2 cup Unsalted Butter At Room Temperature
- 1 Egg Large
- 1 tsp Vanilla Extract
- 1/2 cup Granulated Sugar
- 1 tsp Baking Powder
- 1/4 tsp Salt
For The Topping:
- 8 oz Cream Cheese At Room Temperature
- 2 Eggs Large
- 1 tsp Vanilla Extract
- 1/2 cup Unsalted Butter Melted
- 2 cup Powdered Sugar
- Powdered Sugar For Dusting
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F.
- Grease a 9-inch square baking pan with non-stick cooking spray.
- In a mixing bowl, beat the butter until creamy using a hand mixer or stand mixer.
- Add the egg and vanilla extract to the butter and beat until well combined.
- In a separate mixing bowl, whisk together the flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt.
- Gradually add the dry ingredients to the butter mixture, beating until well combined.
- Spread the cake batter evenly into the prepared baking pan.
- In a separate mixing bowl, beat the cream cheese until creamy using a hand mixer or stand mixer.
- Add the eggs, vanilla extract, and melted butter to the cream cheese and beat until well combined.
- Gradually add the powdered sugar to the cream cheese mixture, beating until smooth and creamy.
- Pour the cream cheese mixture over the cake batter in the baking pan, spreading it evenly.
- Bake the gooey butter cake for 40-45 minutes or until the top is golden brown and the center is still slightly jiggly.
- Remove the cake from the oven and let it cool completely on a wire rack.
- Once cooled, dust the top of the cake with powdered sugar.
