  • In a mixing bowl, whisk together the all-purpose flour, granulated sugar, and salt.
  • Add the cold butter pieces to the dry ingredients and use a pastry cutter or an electric mixer with a paddle attachment to mix until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
  • In a small bowl, dissolve the yeast in warm milk and let it sit for a few minutes until frothy.
  • Add the yeast mixture, egg, and vanilla extract to the dry ingredients. Mix until the dough comes together.
  • Transfer the dough to a floured surface and knead it gently for a few minutes until smooth.
  • Divide the dough into 4 equal portions and roll out each portion into a rectangle.
  • Spread your chosen filling(s) evenly over the rectangles, leaving a small border around the edges.
  • Roll up each rectangle tightly, starting from the long side, to form a log.
  • Cut the logs into slices, about 1 inch thick, and place them on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
  • Cover the Danish pastries with a clean kitchen towel and let them rise for about 15-20 minutes.
  • Preheat your oven to 200°C (400°F) while the pastries are rising.
  • Bake the Danish pastries in the preheated oven for 12-15 minutes or until they are golden brown and flaky.
  • While the pastries cool slightly, prepare the glaze by whisking together powdered sugar, milk, and vanilla extract until smooth. Drizzle the glaze over the pastries before serving.
