Ingredients
- 3 cup All-Purpose Flour
- 1 cup Warm Water
- 2 tbsp Olive Oil
- 1 tbsp Honey
- 2 tsp Active Dry Yeast
- 1 tsp Salt
- 1/2 cup Sesame Seeds
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- In a small bowl, combine the warm water and honey. Sprinkle the yeast over the mixture and let it sit for about 5 minutes, or until foamy.
- In a large mixing bowl, combine the flour and salt. Make a well in the center and pour in the yeast mixture and olive oil.
- Stir the ingredients together until a dough forms. Transfer the dough to a lightly floured surface and knead for about 5-7 minutes, or until smooth and elastic.
- Place the dough back into the mixing bowl, cover with a kitchen towel, and let it rise in a warm place for 1 hour, or until doubled in size.
- Divide the dough into 4 equal portions. Roll each portion into a long rope, about 1/2 inch thick.
- Shape each rope into a ring by connecting the ends and pressing them together gently. Place the rings on the prepared baking sheet.
- In a small bowl, pour the sesame seeds. Brush the top of each Koulouri ring with water, then dip it into the sesame seeds, pressing gently to adhere.
- Let the Koulouri rings rest for an additional 30 minutes.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 18-20 minutes, or until golden brown and crispy.
- Remove from the oven and let them cool on a wire rack before serving.
