  • In a separate mixing bowl, beat the softened butter and granulated sugar with an electric mixer or a pastry cutter until the mixture is light and fluffy.
  • Beat in the eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition.
  • Add the sour cream and vanilla extract to the mixture and mix well.
  • Gradually add the flour mixture to the butter mixture, mixing well after each addition.
  • Pour the batter into an 8x8-inch baking pan.
  • Sprinkle the crumb topping evenly over the top of the batter.
  • Use a fork or small whisk to lightly press the crumb topping into the batter.
  • Bake the crumb cake in the preheated oven for 30-35 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
