For The Choux Pastry:
- 1/2 cup Water
- 1/2 cup Whole Milk
- 1/2 cup Unsalted Butter Cut Into Small Pieces
- 1 tbsp Granulated Sugar
- 1/4 tsp Salt
- 1 cup All-Purpose Flour
- 4 Eggs Large
For The Whipped Cream Filling:
- 1 cup Heavy Cream
- 2 tbsp Powdered Sugar
- 1 tsp Vanilla Extract Pure
For The Chocolate Sauce:
- 1/2 cup Dark Chocolate Chips Or
- Dark Chocolate Chopped
- 1/4 cup Heavy Cream
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 200°C (400°F) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- In a saucepan, combine water, milk, butter, sugar and salt over medium heat. Stir until the butter melts and the mixture comes to a simmer.
- Remove the saucepan from heat and add all the flour at once. Stir vigorously with a wooden spoon until the mixture forms a smooth dough.
- Return the saucepan to low heat and continue stirring for 1-2 minutes to dry out the dough slightly.
- Transfer the dough to a mixing bowl and let it cool for a few minutes. Add the eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition, until the dough becomes smooth and shiny.
- Drop spoonful's of the dough onto the prepared baking sheet, leaving space between them. You can also use a piping bag to create neater shapes.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes or until the Profiteroles are golden brown and puffed.
- While the Profiteroles cool, prepare the whipped cream filling by beating the heavy cream, powdered sugar and vanilla extract until soft peaks form.
- Once the Profiteroles have cooled completely, slice them in half and fill each one generously with whipped cream.
- For the chocolate sauce, heat the heavy cream in a small saucepan until it simmers. Remove from heat and add the dark chocolate, stirring until smooth.
- Drizzle the chocolate sauce over the filled Profiteroles and serve immediately.
