Equipment
- Pie Dish 9-Inch
- Large Pot For Boiling Potatoes
- Potato Masher (optional)
Ingredients
- 1 lb Ground Beef
- 1 Onion Large, Diced
- 1 cup Frozen Peas
- 2 Carrots Large, Diced
- Garlic Cloves Minced
- 1 tbsp Tomato Paste
- 1 tbsp Worcestershire Sauce
- 1 tsp Dried Thyme
- 1 tsp Dried Rosemary
- 1 cup Beef Broth
- 4 cups Potatoes Mashed
- Salt & Pepper To Taste
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 375°F.
- In a large skillet, cook the ground beef over medium-high heat until browned, breaking up any clumps with a wooden spoon.
- Add the onion, garlic, and carrots to the skillet, and cook until the vegetables are softened, about 5 minutes.
- Add the frozen peas, beef broth, tomato paste, Worcestershire sauce, thyme, salt, and pepper to the skillet. Bring the mixture to a boil, then reduce the heat and let it simmer for 10 minutes.
- While the meat mixture is simmering, prepare your mashed potatoes. You can use leftover mashed potatoes or make them from scratch.
- Once the meat mixture is ready, transfer it to a baking dish.
- Spoon the mashed potatoes over the top of the meat mixture, using a potato masher to create a slightly rough surface.
- Cut the butter into small pieces and scatter them over the top of the mashed potatoes.
- Bake the Shepherd's Pie for 25-30 minutes, or until the mashed potatoes are golden brown and crispy.
- Let cool for a few minutes before serving.
