- 1 lb Ground Chicken Or
- Ground Lamb {optional)
- 1/2 cup Onions Chopped
- 2 Garlic Cloves Minced
- 1 tsp Ground Ginger
- 1 tsp Ground Cinnamon
- 1/2 tsp Ground Black Pepper
- 1/4 tsp Ground Cloves
- 1/4 tsp Ground Nutmeg
- 1/4 tsp Fresh Parsley Chopped
- 1/4 tsp Fresh Cilantro Chopped
- 1/2 cup Almonds Chopped
- 1/2 cup Breadcrumbs
- 2 tbsp Olive Oil
- 8 sheets Phyllo Dough
- 1/4 cup Unsalted Butter Melted
- 1 tbsp Powdered Sugar
- Salt To Taste
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 350°F.
- In a large skillet, heat the olive oil over medium heat. Add the onions and garlic, and cook until softened.
- Add the ground chicken or lamb, and cook until browned.
- Add the ginger, cinnamon, black pepper, cloves, and nutmeg to the skillet, and stir to combine.
- Add the chopped parsley, cilantro, chopped almonds, breadcrumbs, and salt to taste, and mix until well combined.
- Remove the skillet from the heat and let the mixture cool.
- Brush a baking dish with melted butter.
- Lay one sheet of phyllo dough in the bottom of the baking dish and brush it with melted butter. Repeat this step with 4 more sheets of phyllo dough.
- Pour the meat mixture over the phyllo dough layers in the baking dish, spreading it evenly.
- Cover the meat mixture with 3 more sheets of phyllo dough, brushing each sheet with melted butter.
- Fold the edges of the phyllo dough over the top of the pie, and brush with melted butter.
- Bake in the oven for 30-40 minutes or until golden brown.
- Sprinkle with powdered sugar and cinnamon.
