Equipment
- Baking Pan Large
Ingredients
- 1 cup Granulated Sugar
- 4 Eggs Large
- 14 oz Sweetened Condensed Milk
- 12 oz Evaporated Milk
- 1 tsp Vanilla Extract
Instructions
- To make the caramel, melt the sugar in a saucepan over medium heat until it turns golden brown.
- Pour the caramel into a baking dish and swirl it around to coat the bottom and sides of the dish.
- In a separate bowl, whisk together the eggs, sweetened condensed milk, evaporated milk, and vanilla extract until smooth.
- Pour the mixture into the caramel-coated baking dish.
- Place the baking dish into a larger baking pan.
- Fill the larger pan with water until it reaches halfway up the sides of the baking dish. This creates a water bath and ensures the flan cooks evenly.
- Bake at 350°F for 45-50 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
- Let the flan cool to room temperature before refrigerating for at least 2 hours, or overnight.
- To serve, run a knife around the edges of the flan to loosen it from the dish. Place a serving dish on top of the baking dish and invert the flan onto the serving dish. The caramel will drizzle over the top.
