Ingredients
For The Chicken:
- 1 lb Chicken Thighs Boneless, Skinless; Cut Into Bite-Size Pieces
- 1 tbsp Soy Sauce
- Rice Wine OR
- Sherry
- 1 Egg Lightly Beaten
- 1/2 cup Cornstarch
- 1/4 cup Vegetable Oil
For The Sauce:
- 1/4 cup Soy Sauce
- 1/4 cup Rice Vinegar
- 2 tbsp Hoisin Sauce
- 2 tbsp Honey
- 2 tbsp Cornstarch
- 1 tsp Sesame Oil
- 1 tsp Grated Ginger
- 2 Garlic Cloves Minced
- 1/4 tsp Red Pepper Flakes
Instructions
- In a large mixing bowl, whisk together soy sauce, rice wine or sherry, and beaten egg.
- Add chicken pieces and stir to coat.
- Cover and marinate in the refrigerator for at least 30 minutes.
- In a separate bowl, whisk together soy sauce, rice vinegar, hoisin sauce, honey, cornstarch, sesame oil, grated ginger, minced garlic, and red pepper flakes to make the sauce.
- Heat vegetable oil in a wok or deep frying pan over medium-high heat.
- Dredge marinated chicken in cornstarch, shaking off any excess.
- Fry the chicken in the hot oil until crispy and golden brown, about 3-4 minutes per side.
- Use tongs to remove the chicken from the pan and place it on a plate lined with paper towels to drain.
- In a separate pan, heat the sauce over medium heat until it thickens and begins to bubble.
- Add the fried chicken to the sauce and stir to coat.
- Serve hot with rice or noodles.
