Ingredients
- 3 cup All-Purpose Flour
- 1 tsp Salt
- 1 tbsp Sugar
- 2 tsp Active Dry Yeast
- 1 cup Milk Warm
- 1/4 cup Water Warm
- 2 tbsp Butter Melted
- Cornmeal For Dusting
Instructions
- In a large mixing bowl, combine the flour, salt, sugar, and yeast. Stir to combine.
- Add the warm milk, warm water, and melted butter to the dry ingredients. Stir until a sticky dough forms.
- Turn the dough out onto a lightly floured surface and knead for 5 minutes, or until the dough becomes smooth and elastic.
- Place the dough back in the mixing bowl and cover with plastic wrap. Let it rise in a warm place for 1 hour, or until it has doubled in size.
- Punch down the dough and turn it out onto a lightly floured surface.
- Roll the dough to a thickness of 1/2 inch.
- Use a cookie cutter or biscuit cutter to cut out the English muffins.
- Dust each muffin with cornmeal and place on a baking sheet.
- Cover with plastic wrap and let rise for 30 minutes.
- Preheat a skillet or griddle over medium heat.
- Cook the muffins for 5-7 minutes on each side, or until golden brown.
- Serve warm with butter and jam, or use as the base for your favorite breakfast sandwich.
