- 8 slices Bread
- 8 slices Ham
- 4 slices Gruyere Cheese
- 4 Eggs
- 2 tbsp Unsalted Butter
- 2 tbsp All-Purpose Flour
- 1 cup Milk
- Salt To Taste
- Pepper To Taste
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
- In a mixing bowl, whisk the flour and milk together.
- Melt the butter in a saucepan over medium heat.
- Pour the flour and milk mixture into the saucepan and whisk until the mixture thickens into a bechamel sauce.
- Season the bechamel sauce with salt and pepper to taste.
- Arrange the bread slices on a baking sheet.
- Spread a layer of bechamel sauce on each slice of bread.
- Add one slice of ham and one slice of cheese on each slice of bread.
- Place the baking sheet in the oven and bake for 5-7 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and bubbly.
- While the sandwiches are baking, fry the eggs in a frying pan until the whites are set and the yolks are still runny.
- Place one fried egg on top of each sandwich.
- Season with salt and pepper to taste and serve immediately.
