  • In a large mixing bowl, combine the flour, salt, sugar, and yeast. Stir to combine.
  • Add the warm milk, warm water, and melted butter to the dry ingredients. Stir until a sticky dough forms.
  • Turn the dough out onto a lightly floured surface and knead for 5 minutes, or until the dough becomes smooth and elastic.
  • Place the dough back in the mixing bowl and cover with plastic wrap. Let it rise in a warm place for 1 hour, or until it has doubled in size.
  • Punch down the dough and turn it out onto a lightly floured surface.
  • Roll the dough to a thickness of 1/2 inch.
  • Use a cookie cutter or biscuit cutter to cut out the English muffins.
  • Dust each muffin with cornmeal and place on a baking sheet.
  • Cover with plastic wrap and let rise for 30 minutes.
  • Preheat a skillet or griddle over medium heat.
  • Cook the muffins for 5-7 minutes on each side, or until golden brown.
  • Serve warm with butter and jam, or use as the base for your favorite breakfast sandwich.
