Equipment
- Large Pot With A Lid
Ingredients
- 1 jar Preserved Grape Leaves (About 40 Leaves)
- 1 cup Long-Grain Rice
- 1/2 cup Fresh Dill Chopped
- 1/4 cup Fresh Mint Chopped
- 1/4 cup Fresh Parsley Chopped
- 1/4 cup Extra Virgin Olive Oil
- 2 tbsp Pine Nuts
- 1 Onion Finely Chopped
- 3 Garlic Cloves Minced
- 2 tbsp Lemon Juice
- Salt To Taste
- Pepper To Taste
Instructions
- Rinse the preserved grape leaves under cold water to remove any excess brine and set them aside to drain.
- In a mixing bowl, combine the rice, chopped dill, mint, parsley, pine nuts, onion, garlic, olive oil, lemon juice, salt, and pepper. Mix well until all the ingredients are evenly incorporated.
- Place a grape leaf on a clean surface, shiny side down, and remove the stem if necessary. Spoon about 1 tablespoon of the rice filling onto the center of the leaf.
- Fold the bottom of the leaf over the filling, then fold the sides inward, and roll tightly to form a small cylinder. Repeat this process with the remaining grape leaves and filling.
- Place a few grape leaves on the bottom of a large pot to prevent the Dolmades from sticking. Arrange the stuffed grape leaves in layers, seam side down, in the pot.
- Pour enough water into the pot to cover the Dolmades and place a heatproof plate on top to keep them in place during cooking.
- Cover the pot with a lid and bring the water to a boil. Reduce the heat to low and simmer for 1 hour or until the rice is cooked and the grape leaves are tender.
- Once cooked, remove the Dolmades from the pot and let them cool before serving.
