  • Preheat your oven to 400°F.
  • On a lightly floured surface, roll out the puff pastry sheet to a thickness of 1/8 inch.
  • Cut the pastry into 12 equal-sized squares.
  • Press the squares into a muffin tin, making sure to press the pastry all the way up the sides of the tin.
  • In a saucepan, heat the whole milk over medium heat until it comes to a boil.
  • In a mixing bowl, whisk together the granulated sugar, all-purpose flour, egg yolks, and vanilla extract until well combined.
  • Add the hot milk to the mixing bowl, whisking constantly.
  • Pour the custard mixture into the pastry shells, filling each one about 2/3 full.
  • Bake for 20-25 minutes, or until the pastry is golden brown and the custard is set.
  • Let the Pastéis de Nata cool in the muffin tin for 5 minutes, then remove them from the tin and let them cool on a wire rack.
  • Sprinkle cinnamon on top, if desired.
