Ingredients
For The Pastry:
- 1 sheet Puff Pastry Thawed
- 1/4 cup All-Purpose Flour
For The Custard:
- 1 1/4 cup Whole Milk
- 1/2 cup Granulated Sugar
- 3 tbsp All-Purpose Flour
- 3 Egg Yolks
- 1 tsp Vanilla Extract
- Cinnamon For Topping (Optional)
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 400°F.
- On a lightly floured surface, roll out the puff pastry sheet to a thickness of 1/8 inch.
- Cut the pastry into 12 equal-sized squares.
- Press the squares into a muffin tin, making sure to press the pastry all the way up the sides of the tin.
- In a saucepan, heat the whole milk over medium heat until it comes to a boil.
- In a mixing bowl, whisk together the granulated sugar, all-purpose flour, egg yolks, and vanilla extract until well combined.
- Add the hot milk to the mixing bowl, whisking constantly.
- Pour the custard mixture into the pastry shells, filling each one about 2/3 full.
- Bake for 20-25 minutes, or until the pastry is golden brown and the custard is set.
- Let the Pastéis de Nata cool in the muffin tin for 5 minutes, then remove them from the tin and let them cool on a wire rack.
- Sprinkle cinnamon on top, if desired.
