Equipment
- Baking Dish 9x13 Inch
Ingredients
- 1 lb Phyllo Dough Shredded, (Kataifi)
- 1 cup Unsalted Butter Melted
- 1 cup Ricotta Cheese
- 1 cup Shredded Mozzarella Cheese
- 1 cup Simple Syrup (Made With Equal Parts Water And Sugar)
- 1/4 cup Pistachios Chopped, (Optional)
Instructions
- In a mixing bowl, combine the ricotta cheese and shredded mozzarella cheese. Set aside.
- Using a food processor or blender, pulse the shredded phyllo dough until it resembles coarse crumbs.
- In a saucepan, melt the butter over low heat.
- Add the shredded phyllo dough to the melted butter and stir until well coated.
- In a 9x13 inch baking dish, spread half of the phyllo dough mixture on the bottom.
- Add the cheese mixture on top of the phyllo dough layer.
- Cover the cheese mixture with the remaining phyllo dough mixture.
- Bake for 30-35 minutes, or until the Kunafa is golden brown.
- Remove from the oven and pour the simple syrup over the top of the Kunafa. Let it soak for a few minutes.
- Sprinkle chopped pistachios on top of the Kunafa, if desired.
- Serve warm and enjoy!
