Ingredients

Assorted Vegetables For Grilling:

Instructions

  • In a mixing bowl, combine soy sauce, mirin, sake, sugar, minced garlic, and grated ginger to create the marinade. Stir until the sugar dissolves.
  • Divide the marinade in half. Use one portion to marinate the beef slices and the other portion for the pork slices. Allow the meat to marinate for at least 1 hour in the refrigerator. (Marinating is optional but enhances the flavors.)
  • Preheat your grill or grill pan over medium-high heat.
  • Remove the meat from the marinade and discard the marinade. Pat the meat slices dry with a paper towel to ensure proper browning during grilling.
  • Grill the marinated beef and pork slices, working in batches if needed, for approximately 2-3 minutes per side or until cooked to your desired doneness.
  • While grilling the meat, grill the assorted vegetables until tender and lightly charred.
  • Transfer the grilled meat and vegetables to serving plates or bowls.
  • Garnish with thinly sliced green onions for an added touch of freshness.
  • Serve the homemade Yakiniku with steamed rice and dipping sauces such as ponzu or sesame sauce.
